Valkyries

Who Are the valkyries?

Not the Choosers of the Slain from the Norse tales. But they’ve taken the idea of the Valkyries and made it their own. The story is told in Book 1, but here is a rough summary.

. * . * . * .

Valkyries: Book One is a Stargate SG-1 adjacent original novel set in my own corner of that universe.

It follows Kara Easteman: smuggler, survivor, rescuer, and captain of an Ancient-built ship known as the Valkyrie. Alongside a crew of women she has rescued, and who choose to remain, Kara strikes back against Goa’uld slavers, entrenched systems of abuse, and the long shadows cast by trauma, loyalty, and survival.

Kara’s path crosses often with SG-1, while original characters and storylines weave through familiar lore, settings, and events from what I think is a fresh perspective. And More Specifically, Valkyries comes from the same AU(alternate universe) universe as The Trinity Universe, the long series that stars Jack, Daniel, and Jason in a polyamorous relationship while the missions continue. Kara’s brother, Dharian, was introduced in Pyramid 2, and she had a cameo. This is a massive extension of that intro.

I asked GPT to write up a quick summary. Here’s what it said:

Book One centers on rescue, agency, found family, women choosing each other, trauma treated seriously rather than romantically, dry humor, sharp dialogue, quiet emotional truths, and slow-burn relationships built on trust.

Thought I’d leave it in, but for clarity, tell you who wrote it. This is the one exception I make for AI getting anywhere near my writing that is Not for beta purposes. So in a nutshell, Valkyries is not canon SG-1. It’s from the Trinity Universe and set in another quadrant of the Milky Way entitled The Tarjeel Quadrant, and for the purposes of the Valkyries series, the Tarjeel universe. The name comes from the immense network of communication relays stationed throughout the quadrant like a giant spiderweb. Or matrix, if you prefer. It is deeply informed by SG-1’s world, spirit, and sense of adventure while standing firmly as its own work. Book 2 will combine SG-1 and Kara’s world for a Pyramid series finale. I’m writing it now; that is, as of 4/26/26.
