Bio/Facts

No known birthdate/birthplace/middle name. Her father, General Jacob Carter, became the host to the Tok'ra, Selmak, in 1998; her brother, Mark(a civilian), is married with two kids and lives in San Diego; her mother (name unknown) died in a traffic accident when Sam was 16 years old.

Sam was stationed in the Pentagon, working on the technology of the Stargate program, until 1997 when she was transferred to the SGC to join Colonel O'Neill in retrieving Daniel Jackson from Abydos. She was a member of SG-1 right after returning from Abydos. In 1999, she was promoted to Major; in 2004, to Lieutenant Colonel.

In 2005, when SG-1 was disbanded, Sam was transferred to Area 51 to work in Research and Development. Half a year later or so, she was transferred back to the SGC to assist SG-1 and later officially rejoined the team--*still* as second-in-command to the new team leader, LTC Cameron Mitchell.

Her best friend was Major/Doctor Janet Fraiser, the SGC's CMO for seven years until her death in 2004. Sam has an unofficial guardianship of Cassandra "Cassie" Fraiser, Janet's adopted daughter (rescued from the plague-ravaged planet, Hanka, aka P8X-987) but it is not known whether Sam officially adopted Cassie after Janet's death.

In 2004, Sam began a relationship with Detective Pete Shanahan of the Denver police department. In 2005, they were engaged but she called it off a few months later.

Odds and Ends

Sam is a geek who prefers to work on projects rather than go home and relax. When she does relax off base, it used to be with Janet Fraiser but is now with Daniel Jackson. She doesn't much care for fishing but liked the peace of it when she went with her teammates up to Jack's cabin just prior to his taking the job at Homeworld Security in D.C.

She works out at the base gym and also has a membership to a civilian gym club.

Sam loves racing and motorcycles, specifically old Indians, and has worked on rebuilding one in her lab with the assistance of Master Sergeant Siler, the base engineer.

Among the foods she likes, Sam favors the mess hall's blue jello while at work and cooks gourmet meals at home. Beverages of choice include diet Coke and white wine.
